Codex

Pick "Codex (local agent)" as an AI column’s model and the work goes to the Codex CLI already on your machine, signed in with your ChatGPT account. No API key and no per-token bill. Like Claude, it can take several steps on a row — read, search, cross-check — where a plain API call gets one prompt and one answer.

Where it goesSetting it up

Settings → Connect Codex. One click writes the manycrawl MCP server into ~/.codex/config.toml; restart Codex and it is connected. The option appears in the model picker once the app finds a Codex CLI, which on a Mac ships inside the ChatGPT app.

CostWho bills you

Nothing extra: it runs on the Codex plan you already pay for. Rows still count against your Manycrawl plan actions, because the fetching is still ours.

Worth knowing

The card reports two things separately, because they fail independently: whether Codex can reach the app, and whether the CLI is logged in. If columns sit unanswered while the badge says Connected, it is the second one — run codex login and hit Re-check. This is also the second drain for the MCP server: Manycrawl queues a job, Codex claims it and answers. See how the MCP server works.
