Site Agent and Web Agent: ask a question for every row

An agent column reads your question, then browses to find the answer for each row. The Site Agent stays on a company’s own website. The Web Agent searches the web. They are newer than the other columns and use your own AI account, so test on a few rows first. They need the desktop app.

Which one

  • Site Agent: “Pull any detail that lives on a company’s own website — owner name, services, pricing, contact info.” It stays on the row’s own site.
  • Web Agent: “Fill in facts you’d otherwise google by hand — a founder’s name, recent news, anything not on the company’s own site.” It searches the web for every row.

Add the column

  1. Click Enrichment and choose Site Agent or Web Agent.
  2. Write your question. Use {Column name} or {URL} to bring in values from the row. The Site Agent starts from the first non-social web address in your prompt, or else from the row’s own address.
  3. Optional: under Fields to extract, name the pieces of the answer you want, and each becomes its own column.
  4. Pick a model. The list shows the AI accounts you have connected (OpenAI, Anthropic or Google AI), or Claude Code (local agent), which needs no key. TypeSafe’s Jev model cannot drive agent columns. See Which API keys do I need?
  5. Check the advanced settings, then run a few rows.

Settings that matter

  • Max steps per row: from 3 to 30, 12 by default. More steps let it dig further and cost more.
  • Use vision (send a screenshot each step): off by default. It helps with pages that are mostly images and adds roughly 1,000 to 2,000 tokens per step.
  • Search engine (Web Agent only): Google, Bing or rotate between them, and a proxy setting.
  • Watch for changes: re-run on a schedule (every hour, 6 hours, day or week) and flag rows whose answer changed. See Automations.

Cost and speed

You pay your AI provider for the tokens an agent uses, and browsing uses a lot more than a single prompt, so check one row before you run a table. A row with no web address is skipped with “no URL to browse”. Agent columns run a couple of rows at a time.
