Which API keys do I need?
None to get started. Manycrawl builds lists and reads websites without any key. You only add a key when you pick a column that uses someone else’s service, such as an AI model or an email-finding provider. You pay those providers directly.
What needs a key
| Column or feature | Key it needs |
|---|---|
| Analyze and write (AI) | One of OpenAI, Anthropic or Google AI. Or use Claude Code (local agent) or Codex (local agent) with no key. |
| Classify | TypeSafe |
| Find email by domain, Find email by LinkedIn | Findymail |
| Find email by name | Findymail, Icypeas, or both. You need at least one. |
| Send leads to Manyreach | Manyreach (to send, not to enrich) |
| HTTP request | Its own saved connection, if the service you call needs a key. The key stays on your computer and is sent only to the address it belongs to. |
What needs no key
- Sources: Google Maps, List scraper, Detail scraper, Google results.
- Apollo: no key. You log in once in Manycrawl’s own browser (desktop app).
- Find emails on website, Scrape (including tech stack, social profiles and founder name), Crawl, Email provider, Get emails from text, Format company name, Format personal name, Split cell, Merge columns, Search engine, Places search.
- Claude Code and Codex local agents.
Where to paste each key
- OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI and TypeSafe: Settings → AI LLM models. Each has a key field and a model list. TypeSafe keys come from console.typesafe.ai under Settings → Keys.
- Findymail, Icypeas and Manyreach: in the integration setup. Click Integrations in the sidebar and open the service.
- Proxies: Settings → Proxy (desktop app). Nothing goes through a proxy unless a column or table asks for it.
If you pick a column that needs a key you have not saved, Manycrawl stops you with an API key required window where you can paste it, save it and test it.
Check that a key works
The Test and Test Connection buttons appear once a key is saved. The OpenAI test says “API key is valid”. Findymail answers “Invalid API key” or “Not enough credits”. There is no test button for Anthropic, Google AI or TypeSafe, so run a single row to check them.
Where keys are kept
Keys are saved to your account, so they come back on a new computer (see Move Manycrawl to a new computer), and a copy is cached on the computer you use. Keys for your own HTTP connections are stored by Manycrawl, not in the column or the table, and each is tied to one web address it will refuse to send to anywhere else. They are encrypted on the computer and also saved to your account, so they come back on a new computer. Never paste a key into an email or a support message.
