Email provider finder: check a domain's mail setup

Give it a website or an email address and this column tells you who runs that company’s email, whether SPF, DKIM and DMARC are set up, and whether a security gateway sits in front. It is useful before cold outreach. It uses public DNS lookups and never contacts the address.

Add the column

  1. Click Enrichment and choose Email provider finder.
  2. Under Domain or email from, pick a column of websites, domains or email addresses. An email address is reduced to its domain.
  3. Run it. Each row is one action.

What you get

By default you see MX provider (who receives the company’s mail, such as Google or Microsoft) and Security provider (a mail security gateway, if there is one). You can add more fields from the column’s field list:

  • Email type: Free, Business, Invalid or Empty. “Invalid” is used when the domain has no mail servers (No MX).
  • Detected domain and MX hosts.
  • SPF exists, SPF record, DKIM exists, DKIM selectors, DMARC exists and DMARC policy.
  • Security gateway, DNS provider and Nameservers.
  • Is role email and Role email local part, which flag addresses like info@ or sales@.

Free mail domains such as gmail.com are recognised right away. Their SPF, DKIM and DMARC show “Yes (managed by provider)”.

Good to know

  • It needs no key. Results are cached for a week, so repeating a domain is quick.
  • An empty input row is skipped (“Missing input”). If nothing is found, a field reads “Not found”.
