Analyze and write with AI

An AI column runs a prompt you write on every row and puts the answer in the cell. Use it to summarize a website, classify a business, or write a first line. It uses your own AI account, so you pay the provider directly, and each row is one Manycrawl action.

Before you start: connect a model

You need either an API key for one provider or a local agent on your computer:

Add the column

  1. Open a table and click Enrichment. Choose Analyze (existing data), also called Analyze and Write.
  2. Write your instructions in AI Prompt. Type / to insert a column, or type its name in curly brackets, for example {Company name}. Built-in values you can use include {URL}, {Title}, {Description}, {Markdown}, {Body text}, {Links}, {Social media}, {Emails} and {Phone numbers}.
  3. Pick the AI Model. The list shows only providers you have connected, as “OpenAI: …”, “Anthropic: …” or “Google AI: …”, plus the local agents. If you have only one key, that model is already selected. If you have more than one, your default from Settings is preselected.
  4. Under LLM model settings, set Max Tokens, which limits the length of each answer. The default is 500.
  5. Save and run. Try a few rows first.

An example prompt: “In one sentence, say what {Company name} does, based on {Body text}. If you cannot tell, reply “unknown”.”

What you get

The answer is plain text in one cell. A very long page is cut off automatically before it is sent. API columns run four rows at a time, so a big table finishes faster than one row at a time. For local agents, Batch rows (faster) is on by default and sends 15 rows per batch.

Rows that don’t run

  • If a column your prompt uses is empty for a row, that row is skipped with a log line like “some inputs missing”. To leave such rows out on purpose, add a run condition (Only run if [column] is found). Rows skipped by a run condition cost no actions. See Control what a run costs.
  • Enrichments run only on the rows you can see, so a filter limits the run.

Cost

Manycrawl shows no price estimate for AI columns. You pay your provider for the tokens, and Manycrawl counts one action per row against your monthly actions (500 on Free, 5,000 on Lite, unlimited on Pro). Run a handful of rows, check the answers, then run the table.

If a row shows an error

“Invalid API key. Check your OpenAI API key in Settings.”Paste the key again. The Test Connection button next to the OpenAI key checks it.
